Unknown Poker Games: Pai Gow Poker

There are a lot of poker games that are unknown or have never been heard of. One of those games is Pai Gow Poker.

Pai Gow poker is a casino poker game and it's based on the Asian game called Pai Gow. Pai Gow is similar to domino and is a popular game in Asia. Using the popularity of Pai Gow, Pai Gow Poker was born. In Pai Gow Poker each player receives 7 cards, with those seven cards; each player arranges two hands, a five card hand and a two-card hand.

In Pai Gow Poker a player wants to win both the 5-card hand and the 2-card hand. Winning one hand will most likely allow a player to "break even" however, winning both hands can be lucrative. The two-card hand is called the forward hand and can contain two things...a pair or a high card. The five-card hand will look familiar to poker players because it looks like most poker hand and incorporate the same concepts, like the importance straights and flushes.

Another interesting aspect of Pai Gow Poker is the joker. The joker is thrown back into the deck and is considered a limited wild card. The joker in Pai Gow Poker can only fill out a straight or flush or played as an ace.

Always remember that in Pai Gow Poker your two-card hand cannot beat your 5-card hand or your hand will be a foul and any bet placed is immediately lost. It's an interesting and fun game that's not that hard to learn and that could turn out to be a favorite.
